Assignment 9- New Year Reflections

This year, I have experienced College Entrance Examination and passed many stages to enter in NTUST. Although I have being a college student only 3 month, I have made many friends, and learned more difficult subject than what I learned at senior high school. I also felt the pressure on my schoolwork, but I have been familiar with a lot of websites help me to improve my English ability.


I would like to be a better student in this coming year, and join badminton team to practice my skill. I plan on studying English hardly in order to pass GEPT intermediate level, especially, writing, and TOEIC score at least 600, and don’t stay up late before midterm exams.

I really look forward to watching this year’s firework show at Taipei 101, and I hope that all my hopes will come true in next year!

Assignment 7 - Steve Jobs’ Commencement Address

My Thought after Reading Steve Jobs’ Commencement Address

In this speech, he told us about three personal stories. Each story is about his actual experience. I was very impressed by his sincerity to share his experience with students. From his legendary life, I learn his courage of being himself. His courage led him to disregard a sheet of academic certificate. He bravely chased what he was really interested and he made his interests show the splendid glamour in his future life.


He stressed “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.” And finally he wished the students “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.”. Regardless the difficulties in the process, eventually, he makes his dream come true.

I use OXFROD dictionary to look up for "big" and "large" English definitions, and I use WebCOLL to find which word can put behind them. 

  big adj.
1. large in size, degree, amount, etc.
e.g. It’s the world’s biggest computer company.

e.g.  You’re a big girl now.

3. important; serious
e.g. She took the stage for her big moment.

According to the WebCOLL and OXFROD dictionary, I find that there is no obvious difference from "big" and "large". Their common meanings is similar, but which word can put behind of "big" or "large"? In my opinion, I think that people use them in the habit.

I learned one idiom, three vocabularies and three sentences form Studio Classroom in this week.

That's 10 sports that I'm not quite familiar with,but I didn't find the Water polo's Chinese translation and   example sentences from the dictionary except Gymnastics.

Self Introduction

         My name is Steve Su. I was born in Taipei. I’m was graduated from Wanfang senior high school this year. I grew up in a good environment. There are four people in my family.I have manny habbits such as playing badminton and baseball and surfing the Internet. My father is a businessman, mother is a housewife, and my brother is a eighth grade student at Jingmei junior high school now. My parents always tell my brother and me to pay 100% concentration on whatever things we are doing .They expected us to be responsible. Besides, they also ask us to be polite and humble with people and learn good things from others. Because of this, I have become a person with responsibility and endurance even though I sometimes make careless mistakes. In all aspect, I am a well-planning and conscientious person.
